Africa, 3rd Decade of Industrial Development: 2016- 2025

01:20 | -
The vision for implementing IDDA III is to firmly anchor Africa on a path toward inclusive and sustainable industrial development. The achievement of this vision requires the transformation of African countries into locations of competitive industrial production.

The necessary enabling framework conditions for this industrial transformation include strengthening key elements of industrial productive capacity, such as infrastructure, innovation and technology transfer, industrial financing, industrial knowledge and skills, and support from public and private sector institutions that regulate and advocate industrial development. Various development interventions and broad-based partnerships are required to improve the enabling framework and encourage productive industrial investment ventures in Africa.

Hunger, malnutrition, lack of education, lack of opportunity, poor health, and discrimination are just some of the results and stigma associated with poverty.

If you've ever experienced a period of time in your own life when you weren't sure where the money was going to come from to pay the rent, buy food or medicine, where you couldn't travel to visit family, or had to drop out of school because you couldn't come up with tuition, you've had a taste of what millions of people live with every day. You know the fear, the all-consuming anxiety, and the hopelessness that comes with it.

The United Nations continues to address all perspectives of poverty globally and has continued its decade into a third term until poverty becomes a thing of the past.

Water for Sustainable Development, Intl. Decade: 2018 - 2028

01:20 | -
The United Nations has inaugurated the International Decade for Action, "Water for Sustainable Development," underscoring the vital role of water resources in achieving global sustainability targets.

Occurring from 2018 to 2028, the initiative aims to support and promote efforts that ensure the availability and sustainable management of water and sanitation for all. It emphasizes the importance of freshwater resources in achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly Goal 6, which calls for clean water and sanitation.

Statistics indicate that billions of people still live without safe water and sanitation access, leading to health crises and socio-economic disparities. As populations grow and climate change exacerbates water-related challenges, the need for comprehensive and integrated water resource management becomes more pressing.

The Decade for Action seeks to:

  1. Accelerate investments and innovations in water infrastructure.
  2. Strengthen partnerships at all levels to promote water resource management.
  3. Advocate for the importance of water in policies and agendas globally.
  4. Enhance international cooperation and knowledge-sharing in water-related domains.

The United Nations stresses that collaboration across sectors and countries is paramount. By spotlighting the centrality of water resources, the initiative hopes to drive action and attention, ensuring that everyone, everywhere, has access to this essential resource by 2030.
